Avoid bathing, Sun bathing, body massage, and exercise. Gentle sponging is accepted well.
Fever till 101 is body’s friend as it helps fight infection by increasing immune response.
Above 101 – measures are needed to bring it down to 100, as the heart rate goes very high to inhibit its own blood supply, and all other normal body functions are hindered.
Best way to bring down fever: 1st rank is for cleaning intestines, as it has the toxins which are the root cause of fever.
2nd rank goes to the cold napkin lower abdomen, as it actually withdraws heat from the abdomen. It has amazing action of decreasing restlessness of fever.
3rd rank is for antipyretic medicines – paracetamol, which only lowers fever for 6 hours without removing the root cause. It blocks the action of prostaglandins, which in turn slows down intestinal motility, in-turn increasing root cause by stasis.
Diet in fever: fruits & vegetables –only things, which can be digested in fever.
Avoid Food grains – cereals & pulses as their digestion is difficult, leading to an increase in the root cause.
Water intake in fever: Body needs more water as dehydration occurs due to evaporation of water through skin, requirement is more to keep body temperature at normal. Ayurved state is Pitt, which is controlled by water. So drink water every 15 – 30 minutes. If cough & cold is with fever, warm water is preferred. In others, copper utensil water is good.
Rest: Fever is a stressful condition for all the organs. Activity will add to the stress. Fever is an alarm for the body to correct all wrongs which has crossed the limit of tolerance. Taking chemicals (antipyretics) and going for normal routine work is injustice towards body. A break is needed for a complete detox.
It is our moral responsibility, not to spread the disease, so quarantine( being in a separate room) is necessary.
